Yes, you may want to try and determine how your settings are the problem 
instead of just blowing things away. That is something you reserve as a last 
resort. When people say things are not working well does not really describe 
what is going on. HOw are these features no longer working? It likely is 
changing some settings etc. that has caused the issue. Determining this first 
will not only save you the trouble of installing, but help you should you find 
yourself in this situation in the future.
