Well, you are not expected to with Apple products. Windows is another matter.

After getting the error message No user available for authorization while trying to re-install Big Sur, I made another call to Apple Tech Support, my fifth since Tuesday, I think. If that doesn't work, I'm going to demand a return, and go back to using my 2017 MacBook Pro, which works just fine. So, that's my experience with the new MBA, FWIW.
