Hi all, Just to bring some closure to this thread. After getting the error message No user available for authorization while trying to re-install Big Sur, I made another call to Apple Tech Support, my fifth since Tuesday, I think. Anyway, he couldn't get the os re-installed, so the MBA is now officially dead. So, I will be going to the nearest Apple store to exchange it this weekend.
Thanks to all who have tried to help.
