Hi Cara, The people who wanted to charge me were a third-party Apple Service outlet. I actually bought the computer at an Apple store in another city, because we don't have one where I live. I was really surprised, too, given that my appointment with them was actually set up by the Apple tech I spoke with on the phone this morning. Cheers, Donna
