Hopefully somebody can help me with this very aggravating issue concerning
e-mail services on my Mac. I will add here that I am now running Big Sir on my
Mac Mini, but the issue started several MacOS iterations past. In short, this
is not a problem seemingly caused by Big Sir.

I have 2 e-mail accounts on my systems (iPad, iPhone 6, iPhone 8 & Mac Mini)
and the below described issue manifests on the Mac Mini only. In fact, I can
open the mail app on any of the 3 iOS devices and resolve the issue with any
given e-mail message I attempt to send to identified recipients.

So, heres the issue; I can receive e-mail messages on both my Google and iCloud
e-mail accounts on the Mac Mini as well as the 3 iOS devices, but I cannot send
out messages from the Mac Mini. There is apparently a problem with the
password, but why then am I able to receive messages? When the dialog box
comes that eventually arises when trying to send an e-mail, the user ID field
is blank and I cannot type anything into it.

I am considering deleting both accounts on my Mac and re-initializing them, but
I do not want to risk losing any of the numerous messages I have placed in
“special folders” for safe keeping.

I’ve called Apple support several times to resolve this problem with good
results, but I’m truly sick of wasting 2 hours of a support tech’s time — and
mine for that matter.

Can anybody send me a step-by-step outline as how best to resolve this problem?

So as not to clutter this mail group, please send your suggestions to:

Thanks to all that suffered through this entire message!
