Using Safari 14.0.1; from what I can tell, pressing the Escape key doesn’t really do anything. If the contents of the address bar are highlighted, pressing the Escape key, unhighlights the current contents of the address field, but focus remains in the address field no matter how many times the Escape key is pressed. One still needs to stop interacting with the Toolbar in order to move focus to the web content area, or anywhere else.
