y Many thanks for the clarification. I can now use VLC to find the real address 
of the youtube video and can play it on Safari without the advertisements. I am 
now unclear how I can use Safari to download the video which is playing on 
Safari. I tried the file menu save as option but that resulted in a zero size  
file. Can you please clarify how to download the playing video in Safari.
I noted  that there is a record option in my version of VLC and that will 
record the currently playing video as an MP4 file in the Movies folder. That 
works OK.
