I have now removed all the items in the trash and the elements of microsoft office (for the mac), are still on the dock. Is this normal? Yep, gotta love Microsoft. Even though you removed some big bloated program, they leave little traces of it around, even on your Mac. Try going to the dock and removing the appropriate items.
