Well, for what it's worth, I'll extend my welcome to you, I'm a fairly newcomer to the list as well (September '08), but have been using a Mac since getting an iBook in 2005, using zoom, then later the predecessor of VoiceOver, called "spoken interface". I then started using voiceover when Tiger came out a year or so later. Now I'm rocking out with a Macbook Pro running Snow leopard (10.6.2). I love this list, I've learned so much, even though I'm a part time voiceOver user, mostly relying on Zoom, then switching to VO when my eyes get tired, as I do have some residual vision. So, since you haven't made the jump, hang out here and learn, than when you get the chance to go to an Apple Store you can play around with what you've learned.
