By default boot camp sets the windows partition at approx. 40 gig I then using the slider change my windows partition to allow for apps and everything else to be installed so I set the win partition to approx. 50% of the available size.

VMware Fusion on the other hand creates a folder in Documents so total disk space that macOS includes both. But if you use Time Machine you need to exclude that folder for it will backup the whole folder every time you do something in Windows.
