Hi,

I prefer iCloud contacts over Gmail, but that is a personal preference.  The 
Contacts app in iOS is very accessible and robust, integrates perfectly with 
both Mac and iOS, and is easy to use.  You could either export your Gmail 
contacts from Gmail to a CSV or VCF file, then import them into the Contact 
app, or you can add contact syncing to the Google account, which will make your 
GMail contacts available in the Contacts app.
