Hi,
One other thing to check is cursor tracking. If you believe that
you're focused on a specific album, but the cmd-i brings up a
different album, then it sounds to me that your cursors may not be
following each other. There are multiple ways to skin a cat, not
that I've ever skinned one, but if you are wanting to affect albums,
then it is best to select Albums from the Library sidebar. If
you're simply wishing to change things one album at a time, then
Grid view works fine. Just interact with the Grid, then VO-space on
the album you wish to make changes to, interact with the resulting
album details, VO-space on the Action menu and select Album Info
from that menu. Modifying the info here will change the tag info
for the entire album. The same thing can be done when Albums is
selected in the Library sidebar under List view. The difference is
that you can use the cmd-i command and more easily do multiple
albums. While in List view, you can use the shift-arrow to select
multiple albums adjacent to each other, or use VO-cmd-return to
select multiple non-contiguous items followed by the cmd-i to Get
Info. Changing the info tags using this method will change all
titles within all the selected albums to your desired genre. You
could also select Songs from the Library sidebar, then sort by album
either from the View menu, or by using the VO-shift-back slash
command to jump to the Header area of the columns. When sorted by
album, then use shift-arrow to select multiple titles from the same
album and cmd-i to bring up the Get Info dialog.
There you go, one poor cat skinned more than one way.

Yes I was wondering that also,
Petrus,
What is the view you have for your music library?
Album or song?

Hi, petrus,
In my Library sidebar, I have it set to display songs. Don't know
if this will make a difference for you, but thought I'd mention it
in case it's helpful.
Cheers,
Donna

I give up, you guys make it sound easy but I’m totally confused. I
made sure list view was checked in the iTunes preferences and then
I tried to select the songs I wanted in a album and then do
command I and it brings up info from a totally different album.
I’m obviously missing something simple.

Hi,
Totally doable. Simply select the song, songs, or titles
within an album then press cmd-i to Get Info on the songs.
Either press tab until you find the Genre field, or VO
navigate to the Scroll area, interact with it and navigate to
the Genre field. When focused on this field, you can VO-space
to choose from the available genres, or type one in yourself
if you'd prefer to create your own. Navigate to the OK button
and press it and voila, all done.

Hi All,
Not sure if this can be done, but is there a way of changing
the genre of a song or album in my music collection in my
iTunes library? I’ve ripped most of my CD collection to my Mac
now but some of them clearly are not the genre that iTunes
says they are. When I’m at work I like to choose a genre and
set it to shuffle so I get a random selection of songs, and
I’ll suddenly get one that I’m not expecting.
Thanks in advance,
