I was given a demonstration of Handytech displays a few years ago. Like others
in the discussion, I appreciated the Active Tactile Control feature which
enables auto-scrolling. However, I found that the sensitivity level had to be
adjusted to the maximum for this to work reliably.

The sensors seem to respond to pressure, and I tend to touch the cells lightly
(apparently normal for proficient braille readers). So, my suggestion would be
to try one before you buy it, just to be sure that it works well and that
you're comfortable with it.

I've read or heard reports of hardware reliability issues with every major
manufacturer's braille display - people who say that they've experienced
failures of one kind or another that required repair. Thus, making sure you
have a competent source of hardware support is important just in case you're
unlucky. Well built braille displays can last a long time and remain reliable
for many years (more than ten in some cases). I know as much from my own
experience, so I don't want to leave the impression that there's anything wrong
with the technology itself.

    Hi!
I think the bluetooth issue can be fixed by turning off Voiceover and try
to pair it with the Windows vm again.
    But i am not sure.
I have the same issue with Linux and my display in Vmware.
    Not with windows.

older Braillino that unexpectedly just stopped working about two years ago. The
only down side I’ve noticed is that, when connected to my Mac mini, I can’t
seem to get my VMware Fusion machines to see it. For some reason, VO takes
exclusive control of the Actilino’s driver, and won’t let go for anything. On
the plus side, I do like being able to switch among three bluetooth devices.

I got mine used for an awesome price a year ago, and have never looked back. My
VU is in a box! if you enable tactile scrolling it moves to the next line when
your fingers get to the last character. it is so great. it’s bigger than VU,
and unless you have huge pockets it won’t fit, but trust me it’s worth it.
this scrolling works on IOS and mac too!
