Hi,

Depends on the device.  An Apple BT keyboard or mouse is available as soon as 
the iMac is turned on.  I've only used old fashioned 3.5 mm headphones when 
messing with  base level activities, so I'm not positive as to when BT sound 
would be available.  My educated guess would be that you are correct and that 
it would not be available until later.
