BT will only work in the printer's environs. Mine is connected via ethernet cable to my router. My router also serves as my wireless access point (WAP) for wifi in my home.
Result: I can access my printer anywhere in my home, even beyond where BT would work. Also, I can access my printer from across the planet, should I so choose.
