Hi, Just to add, because I don't think anyone's said so so far, you need to be in Finder for the keystroke Command Shift A to work. So to explore the apps and open one of them here's a Finder method. Note I would have Quick Nav off while doing this and my view in Finder is set to columns which might affect things, so if it doesn't work let us know:
Hold down Command and repeatedly press Tab until VO says "Finder", then let go of Command. This switches you to Finder. Press Command Shift A which is the shortcut to the apps folder. Arrow up and down to go through the list of apps. When you find one you want to open, press Command down arrow, which will open it.
