I can only answer your dropbox question. yes. dropbox is very accessible on the Mac.
with the hard drives I think it depends on what kind they are whether or not they'll work with a Mac. it doesn't matter what kind of files are on them. you can share any file type from a Mac to a pc on dropbox and it's fine. if there was a problem it would be with your Mac accessing those hard drives.
