Apple made it's own Youtube player which launches. I assume this player uses the native video hardware decoder rather than software to play back the video. Note that even if you opt-in for HTML5 video you still get shunted to the youtube player. Vimeo bumps you to the QuickTime player. I didn't even know there was a QT player on the iPhone.
