My memory of the mail app from when I could see the screen is that a single tap would select a message and a double tap would open it. On the phone, a triple tap implements a doublet, but from keyboard help it appears that a triple tap does "describe voiceover item" I tried assigning mouse double click to command click and command double click in the trackpad commander, making sure that Mouse followed voiceover cursor was also selected. But this still did not allow me to open the
It shouldn't be too difficult to create a AppleScript that would create a new window with selection which could then be assigned a commander though that would have to be used with a modifier key I have thought of going the other way of having keys without modifiers being able to navigate the mail message list though I don't know if KeyBoard maestro could be intelligent enough to work only in a specific type of window of a specific app but that does present some interesting patterns. Do any of the keyboard macro facilities have ways of reacting to multifinger gestures, if so a more configurable trackpad commander could be created. .
