Hi Jürgen,

Try checking Fred while in System Prefs, closing System Prefs then going back 
in and unchecking him.  Fred is one of the base English voices that is used in 
the setup process so even when it's not checked, I suspect that it is present 
in some manner.  If your installation default was not English, the main suite 
of English voices was likely not installed, but Fred is still lurking in the 
background, I'll bet.  This sort of thing happens on occasion in other 
situations as well.  Sometimes, in Users & Groups System Pref, even with the 
guest user check, the Guest user is not and option at login.  If I uncheck it, 
then close System Prefs, go back in and check it once again, life is now good.  
Give it a try if you'd like.
