Hi, Along with Simon, if I'm reading your responses correctly, you've likely erased the Macintosh HD. If you did this while in the Recovery Partition, then the Recovery Partition should still be available as the System will not allow you to erase the partition while it has an active OS running. If you did this from an external source, then, yes, the Recovery Partition will be gone.
The Recovery Partition that I'm speaking of allows you to start your Mac from a basic VO enabled system that allows for various maintenance features and such to be ran. If the Recovery Partition has actually been erased, then there is still the option of starting from the Internet Recovery of the MacOS. So, follow these steps: 1. Power the Mac down and wait for about 20 seconds. 2. Press the power button then immediately press and hold down the cmd and r keys. Hold them down for 5 to 10 seconds then release. 3. After releasing, wait one to two minutes, then press cmd-f5 to turn VO on. If VO engages, then there will be an option to reinstall the MacOS. If it does not, wait another minute, and try again. If you still cannot get VO to start, then proceed to the next process. 1. Power down the Mac. 2. Press the power button to turn it on then immediately press on the cmd, Option and r keys simultaneously and hold down for 5 to 10 seconds then release them all. 3. Wait about 5 minutes and try turning on VO. The caveat with the Internet Recovery mode is that a valid WiFi or ethernet network connection must be active, otherwise, you won't gain access to the Internet Recovery system on Apple's servers. If the WiFi connection was live when you erased the drive, then it should remain live. If you've performed a PRAM/nvRAM reset or similar such maintenance option, then the old WiFi connection will be lost. You will require sighted assistance to connect to a WiFi network in this situation. Once connected, the above Internet Recovery option will work fine for reinstalling the MacOS. In addition, Simon's suggestion of a USB installation stick is also available. HTH. Later... So if this volume or the top most level of the drive are eraised you lose everything including all chances of being able to reinstall from the recovery console The only chance now if I'm reading what you have said is correct them you will need to get a USB installer and boot to that then install also from that, Which will correct the issues you have now got including replacing the recovery partition of the drive. Hope this makes sence. -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com <mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com <mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com>] On Behalf Of masood bamyani Sent: Wednesday, 23 August 2017 4:55 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com <mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> Subject: Re: factory reset a mac book pro I mean prised cmd sheft and e but I couldn't reinstall the system again. when I turn on my mac a page with question mark shows up and voice over doesn't work too.
