You are quite correct in your scenario. The messages, do, in fact, go away after a brief moment and, having learned this, I simply wait a few seconds after the haptic indicator before waking the watch and all is as you say it should be. As to the syncing of other data, can you tell us why you want to limit this? Of course, I understand not getting notifications. That said, if you simply disable calendar notifications, say, then you never even have to know that your calendar events are on the Watch. If, however, you ever need to ask Siri on your watch what’s next on your calendar, or you want to add the calendar to a watch face, the option is there. Contacts are equally helpful, letting the watch tell you, by name, who’s calling or texting. Again, you can turn all these notifications off, but the option will be there. You can also tell Siri on the watch to “text Pete” instead of trying to dictate a full phone number each time. I’m just not seeing the need to completely stop data syncing, if you can more easily silence notifications to do with the data you don’t want. If you want the Watch to be an activity tracker, it can do that. The problem is that all its data is constantly syncing to your iPhone. If you sign into one account on the watch, and another on the phone, I don’t know whaat might happen to this syncing. I also doubt you’d get your activity and health data included in iCloud backups if your phone refuses to accept it. Finally, your actual Watch will then be registered to a different account. That’s not a problem in itself, but it does make things more complex if and when you have to talk to Apple support. Finally, I’ll say this. The Apple Watch is a very good activity tracker, no doubt. But I can’t recommend enough that, as you get more comfortable with it, you give its other functions a try. I love tapping my watch screen to wake it, then using Hey Siri to text someone or control a smart home device. My phone can be in the other room, playing media I don’t want to interrupt, hooked to a bluetooth headset with a terrible microphone, or otherwise not convenient for Siri control. Yet my Watch handles things just fine. It’s also nice to customize the watch face to add the information you need, like upcoming calendar event, weather details, a timer, commonly used apps, activity rings, whatever you find useful. The more you explore everything the Watch has to offer, the more you might find you like it as more than just a health tracker. I’m not saying you should do everything right away, or force yourself to use something you don’t feel comfortable with.
