Hi everyone, in a recent blog post, I lamented the lack of a DAISY player for
Mac.
This has resulted in me being contacted by someone fluent in both English and
German who tells me that there is in fact a DAISY player available. The free
version allows for playback, and a paid version also provides for DAISY
production. The default language for the product is German, and from what I can
gather, the entire website is German as well.
When you install the player, the local system language isn't detected, but I'm
told that if you can find it in Preferences, English is available. So maybe
there's further potential here for making this all much easier than it
currently is. I don't know if the developer is fluent in English, but
presumably they have someone who is since localisation has been done.
The app is available for multiple platforms at:
http://www.legantoo.de/index.php?menuid=33
<http://www.legantoo.de/index.php?menuid=33>
and although I'm not a German speaker, I was able to work out which link is
for the Mac version. Something for the ambitious among you to play with.
Also since I will soon no longer be using a Mac and will be unsubscribing, this
is probably my last post here. So I'd like to extend a sincere thanks to those
who have offered great tips and tricks over the last four years or so that I've
been subscribed. I appreciate it very much and of course will continue to watch
developments with Mac via all the tech feeds I subscribe to.
Cheers.
