Hi Stan, 

The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the content of the PDF may 
have been scanned in. Therefore, becasue the content is an image and not actual 
content VO will be not be able to read it. Do you have an OSCR package that can 
OCR PDF files? if so you could run it through that first and then open the 
resulting file in TextEdit or another application. You could also save the file 
as a PDF and re-open it in Preview. However, if you OCR it, you may lose any 
formatting that PDF has in it.
