I use mission control but it appears to be associated with a 4 finger swipe up.
There are three areas of Mission Control. The first one adds a virtual desktop, the second area has a list of all desktops either they are full screen applications or just a second screen of applications. For a blind user the primary reason you might want multiple screens is for performance. If you have an applications that is constantly updating the screen (perhaps a movie), then placing that application on its own desktop and moving away from it, the computer will know you can't see the updates so it won't work on constantly updating the screen with the changes. The third section of voiceover is a list of every open window So a little bit like the VoiceOver window list but for all applications.
