I have to disagree with people when they say that macs have bad resale value; at least in the uk, nearly every mac is expencive for the spec.
I make a fair bit of money refirbishing then selling macs, pc's and laptops. Not so long ago I purchased around 8 broken 500 mhz iMacs. I was able to construct 4 fully working units out of them, the rest I sold for parts. The working macs sold for £50 per unit, which in the uk, is a rediculessly high amount for the spec; if they were normal desktops, I would be paying people to take them off my hands!
