What do you guys think is the easiest way to verify with any given phone if its unlocked or not? I know you can swap in say a TMO sim, but I can't believe there is not an easier way?
I've sceen some EMEI lookups but often you have to pay to look up the lock status. And also for the unlock to process, say if it is locked, do you still have to restore it in iTunes? That seems like a conveluded process? Also I am curious what these companies do literally behind the scenes when you pay for an unlock, somehow they get the Apple database to reflect that the EMEI is an unlocked device, but I would be dying to know how they actually do that? I think once I used one of these companys, Chronic Unlocks, and got a locked phone unlocked for about $50 or less.
