Jes, I admit that I do a lot of fun things with my iPod Touch like listening to music and podcasts and playing word games, but I also do some serious things with it too. For instance, I can get my E-mail on the go, check my TV listings with the TV Guide app, keep to-do lists and grocery lists on there for when I go shopping with a sighted person, bring up street directions, check the calorie content of foods and other things. I don't think a person necessarily needs an iPod Touch or iPhone, but it does give you some pretty useful computing power while on the go depending on what apps you install and how you end up using it. In reality, I would guess that most of the things people do with their Touches and iPhones revolve around entertainment pursuits, but if you want to, you can also make it a very handy tool for getting things done.
