Yes all around.:)

First, there’s no real advantage I don’t think to having multiple accounts 
unless you have say a dedicated business phone and home phone or maybe a 
business account and your over all family account.  There may be reasons to 
split and maybe others have better ideas but for me having one account for 
everything is the way to go.  Everything syncs across devices, you get a nice 
unified experience, put me down for suggesting one ID everywhere.

Secondly, in your iPhone settings under settings, mail and contacts, you’ll 
find the ability  to set the scheduling for each account so you could for 
example manually read your mind spring account if you needed to but your Gmail 
will always be updated.

Another alternate way to go is to install the gmail app, use that for your 
google mail and use your mind spring in your phone but that’s probably not as 
clean.  Let me know if you have any questions.
