Well, now, I care very little for who says they own what; there's
another thing in the states that goes "Possession is nine tenths of
the law." It's whom the *DOG* chooses that matters more to me.

Having said that, I will now give the facts for my guide dog school:
Guiding Eyes for the Blind does retain ownership of the dog for at
least the first two years of a partnership; after that time, the blind
handler may apply for ownership and usually receives it. At which
point, I don't know what kind of action would be necessary to
repossess a dog, but they'd have to prove cruelty to the animal and
then go through local authorities if they wanted to repossess the dog,
and the police would have to do all the work, as they would with any
other cruelty case. Since *I* know I'm not cruel to the dog, and the
dog knows it, I will defy any attempt by anyone else to decide
otherwise. I said I was an anarchist, remember? My sensei taught me,
"You are the law within your own space." Well, I've taken that to
extremes in the past, and I hope never to have to do so again, but in
the case of someone trying to take or hurt my dog (and I've had
nightmares about this), I wouldn't hesitate to use any necessary means.
