Hi Brandon, There are several things which come to mind that I love about ReadKit:
1. The fact that it syncs with read later services like Instapaper, so I can view my saved Instapaper articles alongside my feeds. 2. That it syncs with Feedly, a service which you don’t have to pay for on an annual basis. 3. That with one hotkey you can fetch the full text of a selected article without having to open the full webpage for the article. This uses Readability to parse the text. 4. That the built-in keyboard shortcuts are very convenient, such as “m” to mark selected articles as read, “f” to star an article, “b” to open the selected article in your default web browser, and “g” to fetch the full text of an article. 5. The fact that you can set notifications only for articles which match certain criteria. Note: you may be able to do this in Vienna, but I don’t remember this capability. 6. I know this sounds a bit irrational, but I like the fact that ReadKit comes from the Mac App Store and is therefore signed and sandboxed. Of course, that doesn’t mean one should avoid software from other sources, and in fact the free and open source model of Vienna is fantastic; but I think all other things being equal, if two pieces of software worked identically and one was in the Mac App Store, I’d probably choose that one. Since it’s been so long since I’ve used Vienna on a daily basis, I can’t really give a comparison about any difference in reliability between the two apps. If Vienna is working, and if you don’t rely heavily on a read later service, there’s probably no reason to switch. Grant > On Friday May 20, 2016, at 8:47:37 PM, Brandon A.
