Hello Everyone, Here's the scenario that I have encountered several times on multiple new Macs:
1.. Open the Add Printer dialog box. 2. Select Add Printer. 3. In the Use pop-up box, choose Select Software. At this point, time-and-time again, the list of available Apple printer drivers is either empty or sparsely populated with completely irrelevant drivers. If I type in the actual brand of the printer, for example, Cannon, no drivers are displayed. This has happened to me both when installing my own printers and when installing printers for others. I remember that when I attempted to install my Samsung printer, I ran into this problem. Even after checking for updates, no drivers were displayed. However, a couple of days later, when attempting to do so again, the list was populated with hundreds of drivers, one of which was my particular model. Again, I have encountered this same scenario over and over again, including yesterday when attempting to install a printer for a friend. Of course, some suggest that one should go to the manufacturers site to download the drivers. A great idea unless the manufacturer informs you that the drivers for the model are already provided by Apple. I have conducted several Google searches on this and have discovered that a lot of people encounter this problem yet I cannot discover a solution. The closest I came to finding a solution is located in a support document, posted by apple, listing all of the currently provided printer drivers. However, they do not address exactly how to get the list of drivers to be displayed, automatically,, on demand. Any thoughts?
