Although I think iBooks for Mac is really quite horrible, an unfinished counterpart to its far-superior iOS version, I didn’t have any trouble using it. Once you interact with the scroll area, you can stay interacted with it, and even continuous read, and it will plough through the book, overcoming any navigational boundary.
