Odd question, but this is an odd problem. :) Are you, in fact, in headers? 
Vo-shift-backslash will toggle them; perhaps you've enabled them somehow? Also, 
when you say that VO doesn't give more information, what do you mean? Column 
view, for instance, won't provide anything other than the name of the file or 
folder; might the one folder be in column view and you didn't notice? My music 
folder is stuck that way for some reason, though everywhere else uses list view 
with no problem.
