The easiest way is to simply drag the icon of the attachment from your 
email to the desktop, or to any folder or folder window in the Finder.

If you have the file open, you can also use the File menu in the program 
that opened it. Apple programs now use the "Duplicate" command, but many 
other programs (apps) still use "Save as...".

Technically, the attachment is already saved on your computer, but its 
location is a hidden folder. When you save the document to a new location 
with any of the directions in this response, you are simply making another 
copy at that location.
