I'd also add that most of the problems seem to be from a very tiny group of users, and if you use threaded conversations, it's easy to simply delete the conversations you know won't have any value. I'm staying because, overall, I still receive and can offer valuable help from and to members of the list. Hopefully, most of the people here will stick this out and keep this list as the great resource it has been for years.
