Hi Alex,

Thanks for responding.  I've been trying command+f5 repeatedly and no luck.  A 
sighted person tells me when I press command+f5 that he can see Voiceover on 
and off on the screen but I have no speech. It's curious.  With sighted help 
I'm downloading Yosemite as we speak but I'm still disconcerted why I lost 
speech.  Hopefully once the process starts I will get voiceover back.
