Hi, An SSD would do the trick but it shouldn’t be necessary. I’ve got Yosemite running on numerous 2008 iMacs with only 4 GB of RAM and Alex doesn’t seem choppy to me. The slower 5400 RPM HD’s do take some time to load but Alex speaks fine after everything actually loads up. The newer iMacs that I have running the exact same system are far more snappier but that’s understandable. I’d have a chat with the people who supposedly fixed your Mini if that’s possible. Let them know how poorly it’s performing now and that it worked much better prior to the repairs.
