Hi,

Yes and the answer is that they can be played on Apple TV as long as the Apple 
TV and the computer that has the movies on it are both part of the same Home 
Sharing network.  Make sure that the computer that has them in its iTunes 
Library is turned on, with iTunes open and you’ll need to connect to that 
computer via the Computers menu item on your Apple TV.  Once connected, you can 
watch any movies or TV shows that are stored on the computer that meet the 
Apple TV media requirements.
