Ok got the list in a file and the books are not listed.
I had issues once I started ripping movies so started fresh. I
killed the iTunes folder (on the Mac) and let iTunes create a new one.
Then added the music and movies. That went well.
The next phase was to sync the iDevices with the Mac (did this with
Windows before). To make this a short story, I had to move the Mobile
Appllications but all the apps show up in the Apps window. The Tones
too. The only missing media are the books.
I did go to the app store and try to retrieve those titles but only
saw a couple old ones I do not want.

You select the playlist then go to file->library->export playlist. Also, try
searching in iTunes for it. Just press command-f and type a search term. That might
be the fastest. We are just trying to figure out if it is really there and you can’t
find it, or if it isn’t getting added for some reason.
You say that you got it from the app store. Check the apps section of your
library and see if it’s putting it there..
Is this the original library in the music folder on your boot drive, or did you
create it? If the latter, how did you create it?

How do I export? Definitely have to do that, too many items in that list.

Can you find it in the recently added playlist?
If you have trouble with the iTunes interface, you can export the recently
added items to a text file.

In iTunes advanced preferences, is Copy files to iTunes Media folder when
adding to library checkbox checked?
Note that when you open a different library it could be set differently.

Yes I have tried that method as well.

Did you do this?
Copy the book to a location on your mac. Then, in iTunes add it to your
library by pressing command-o and browsing to it’s location and pressing open.

These are books I got from the App Store on my iDevices. They are in the
Books subfolder on the Windows machines. One title is the Old Farmers A;l. The
2015 edition is on the iDevices.I do not see it anywhere on the Mac in iTunes.
I found a previous edition in the Purchases window which of course I do not
want. I want to make sure that all is well after having migrated the media from
Windows to Mac.

I always buy my Audible audiobooks from Audible.com direct, which delivers the
Audible audio files that play on any player compatible with Audible's digital

If your audiobooks came from elsewhere, then they are essentially treated as
music files by default and you have to recategorise them using the Get Info
dialog.
