Does your receiver have fiber optic hookups? If so you can just run a
fiber optic cable from your headphone jack to your receiver. All digital
and no HDMI needed. My receiver is going on 15 years old and it has
those little square connectors in the back which are hooked to my Mac
mini for output.
The Duet is only 2 input channels but it does work with an iPad, but I
thought you were hunting something for your Mac.

Yes I need more than 2 chanels, and I need a sound device that will sound good
too. I am both using it for recording, but also for connecting to my receiver
to get better sound. I have no HDMI on my receiver, and it is difficult to find
a stereo receiver with HDMI.
I have thought of buying a duet 2 from apogee, but I am a little in doubt about
the touch screen.
Best regards Annie.

Do you need a 'card' or just an interface? For my little bit of recording I use the
Art USB Dual Pre which takes two XLR or 1/4" mic or line level inputs and
appears as a USB audio device which you can then record with whatever you like. It's
16-bit 44Khz resolution so if you're into the 192K thing that's not going to be what
you want but for most purposes it works fine. For output it also goes the other
direction but you know you can also run a fiber optic cable from your headphone jack
to a standard 5.1 receiver and skip the A/D conversion.

Hi all.
My external sound card is broken, and I need a new one. I need a high end sound
card thunderbold or USB 3.0. I use it for recording with protools and in the
future I will try to use logic. I also use it for connecting to my receiver to
obtain better sound quality.
Best regards Annie.
