Actually, I went into text edit and Alex does indeed pronounce a year correctly.
I stand corrected.

But, in any case, the "and" is not present in the pronunciations of 4-digit years for my Mac. The 4-digit numbers are either pronounced as pairs like nineteen seventy-five or as the actual number as in two thousand fourteen. Not sure why your installation is acting different.
