Hi May,

Regardless of signing out of iCloud in every place possible (app store,
iTunes store, system preferences, what have you), checking for updates in
the app store will use his ID because the Mac still has apps installed on it
that are tied to his account. Since the new Apple ID did not purchase these,
and the Mac can tell that it was a prior-used Apple ID, it will try using
that instead.

Here are two solutions that are not as drastic as having to do a clean
install:

1. Find out which apps are tied into the Apple ID that continually
reappears. Once you have a comprehensive list, go to applications
(command+shift+A from the finder), then delete each app that is tied into
the older, misbehaving ID.

2. Repurchase the apps from the App Store if you find them to be an
absolute necessity. Make sure you're signed into the preferred ID in the App
Store before you do this.

Again, it does not matter what your settings state; OS X will always revert
your app store to use the different ID if you try to update apps that are
connected to a different account.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Tristan

Every app, yes, but has he logged out in System Preferences > iCloud? That's
the main place for it. Also, any apps he has installed that are left from
the previous owner will belong to that previous owner, and so will need that
password to update. He can just re-install them under his ID to fix that.
For system updates, the same thing allies - the previous owner ran the
install of the OS, I imagine, so updates will be under that old account.
Changing the iCloud account in System Preferences may help this too, but I'm
not sure. Generally, when someone gives/sells you a computer, the first
thing you do is a clean install, but it sounds like that didn't happen in
this case.

Oh, hmm under my safari settings there seems to be no extensions there.
Well, guess that would explain why it doesn't show me anything.

As for the apt store problem. He's logged out of ICloud, ITunes, the apt
store, everything that uses an apple ID. Then he signed back in with his
apple ID information and as soon as he goes to update the mac at the apt
store it reverts back to the old apple ID.

First, when you say you've logged out, is that in the iCloud part of System
Preferences? If not, give that a try.

As to videos, they might actually be there. Find the frame containing the
video, and interact; Mavericks might be stopping the Flash plugin from
loading, presenting a button with a label about power saving instead. Click
that button and the video should load right up. If not, go to Safari's
preferences, then extensions, and be sure Flash is enabled.

Good day all.

First a question for a friend of mine. I asked this a few days ago and was
suggested to check ICloud to see if that would help fix the problem my
friend is having. Sorry, it was no luck. The problem is whenever he goes to
the mac apt store to update instead of staying logged in with his apple ID
it keeps going back to the original person that had the mac. Is there a way
to fix this or do they need to complete clear the mac and start over with
just their apple ID? They've tried logging out and back in, checked ICloud,
logged out of ITunes and back in and nothing seems to be working.

Now the second question is for myself. Is there a certain plug in or program
I need on my mac to play videos that appear on sites such as blogs? I
thought flash player was what I needed, but Safari still won't show me that
videos are there and I know they are. Any help there would be appreciated as
well, thanks.
