Yeah, I know. But you can often put your cable modem in pass-through mode, or buy a Draytek 120 for DSL passthrough. In the UK, VDSL service is actually supplied in two boxes as standard: the modem, and the router; the modem is part of the national infrastructure, whereas the router comes from the ISP and can be AirPort.
