Hi all, Please forgive me and let me know if this is off topic. I have never had an accessible cell phone. However, I left mine in my pants pocket and then ran my pants through the washer. :) Oooops! My DH teased that I did it so I could get an iphone. He he he.
Well this go around I would love to have an accessible mobile phone. I of course am very interested in the iphone. I think I'm afraid to take the leap into such a cool phone. It's larger than I'm used to and there is also the issue of an extra $30 for the data plan. I am an AT&T customer and I believe I can get a samsung jack with some software installed for me to make the phone accessible. BTW, my husband has an iphone. So, my question is if I do not go with an iphone will I have issues using the phone on the mac? Do I run the risk of the talks software not being compatible with the mac and voiceover? I hope my question makes sense. I love the idea of an iphone for all the cool things I can do with it but I'm also wanting to buy it because I know it should work with my mac seamlessly. I also want to support apple for the efforts in accessibility. It is hugely important to me that they are offering voiceover on the iphone without an extra charge. I love that. That is probably one of the largest reasons I switched to mac. I did not have to go spend an extra $1000 plus for a screen reader and then go through the hassle of installing it and dealing with all the quirks and crashes I was already experiencing with windows and zoom text. I would appreciate any insight or experience you all are willing to share in regards to the iphone and other cell phones working with the mac and voiceover. I'm afraid if I get a non apple phone that voiceover will not work with the phone's software and maybe the mac will not even recognize the phone when plugged into the mac.
