Hi, You may like to check in the Store menu as well. VO-m to the Menubar, right arrow over to the Store menu and then down arrow to the "Sign In to the Store" item. Things often remained dimmed if you are not actually signed into the AppStore. Beyond that, I suggest you do the Repair Permissions, find the stand-alone installer from the web, and/or Reinstall option from the Recovery Partition that I mentioned yesterday. As I also mentioned yesterday, if your system is currently at 10.9.3, then there is no way that Software Update will be helpful.
