One more thing, if you use the Mail app on the Mac. With Gmail, if I erased a
conversation of two or more messages, VO would randomly repeat the next item I
was on, as though the table of messages had refreshed itself. This got very
annoying, especially when clearing out conversations from mailing lists; I'd
delete, then, just as the headers were over and VO was starting on the preview,
it would read the whole thing over. With iCloud, that is no longer a problem.
The only time messages get spoken twice now is if a new one comes in while I am
previewing a message.

One thing to remember is that iCloud mail counts toward your iCloud storage.
You get 5gb free, to use for mail, iOS backups, iWork files, and so on. Gmail
gives you around 15gb, and that is not taken up by iOS backups. You can pay for
more, but the free storage on Gmail is greater. Of course, you are indirectly
paying for Gmail since Google is scanning everything you do to target ads at
you, so it's a trade-off either way.
