Hi folks.
Thought I'd eexplain how the FaceTime issues got resolved
Worked with a friend or two yesterday afternoon, and basicly hear's
what it comes down to.
We found that if you got to the point of entering email addresses in
the FaceTime application, that they will be entered properly.
What caused most of my frustration (for nothing) I might point out
ultimately, was that I would sometimes Voiceover cursor back a bit and
hear things like "work" thinking somehow the email address and got
entered somewhere else. That's how things appeared to be.
Generally, if you just tab through the various feelds, you'll be
perfectly fine, and I did test this.
Added several folks and was able to FaceTime audio call just fine.
However, I do have a tip for people who have Macs wishing to talk with
iPhone only users.
If the iOS iPhone that the Apple ID has been created with, is what's
used on the iOS app store and all that, don't bother using the email
address associated.
You'll need to add your friend's iPhone telephone number to your
contacts in FaceTime instead of entering an email.
I know so, because one test friend of mine only owns for the time
being an iOS iPhone.
He assured me FaceTime was not off or anything.
So, logicly, I should be able to reach him, right?
Nope.
Not if I used his Apple ID email address.
So, ultimately, I gave up, and asked him what his number was, because
I was not gonna go looking through all my cell calls and all that to
find it.
My cell phone's clunkey, and by the way doesn't run iOS.
So, I ended up trying re-adding my friend but this time plugged his
iPhone telephone number into the contact details.
He had his iPhone connected to the wireless network, and sure enough,
FaceTime rang just fine.
Where as with the perfectly valid iCloud email ID that he'd given me
previously, I was continuesly told he was unavailable.
So I hope this tip helps somebody.
If anybody is interested in chatting with me over FaceTime audio, as
an alternative to Skype chats, as I'm in the process of trying to find
alternative ways of communicating, feel free to get hold of me first
to make sure that it's okay to FaceTime.
I don't constantly have the Mac running, so sometimes I might not be available.
If I miss a FaceTime call, or anything, I simply might be away from
the keyboard, as well, or any number of things, keeping in mind
timezone differences generally.
Feel fre to add me to Skype and other things if you wish.
And we can exchange FaceTime details.
Or, just send me an email, I check this account 24/7, so I'm bound to get it.
Thanks.
Well, I don't exactly check it 24 hours a day, but sometimes, it feels that way.
Regardless, you can be sure you'll get a response if I notice it.
