Write to the Mozilla accessibility team with a request for your feature in FV. They have some really excellent hackers, one of the best is a blind friend of mine who is also former FS, and they'll put it on there list. Promise to help with documentation or testing or something and you'll get things done sooner.
Or, find a friend on something like the blind programming list (it's on freelists) who may be willing to do it for a sandwich.
