Buddy can refer to any gender yeah, if you're speaking English as
badly as most of us Londoner's do lol.  I'm sure your student discount
will still work if you add Apple Care later into the warranty, I
didn't purchase mine until 9 months in and it was all good.  You're
covered for a year though already, and those new macbooks have awesome
build quality, so it's not something you need to worry about for a
while yet.
